Chief cabinet secretary: “Referendum has no legal consequences”

Chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga during morning press conference on Mar 17 in response to the referendum on joining Russian Federation held in the Ukrainian autonomous region of Crimea stated: “Referendum has no legal consequences, our country does not acknowledge it. We strongly urge Russia not to annex Crimea”.

Answering about possible sanctions against Russia Suga said: “We will be in close contact with our partners in G7 and act in response to the situation.”
