The chief cabinet secretary Yoshihide Suga during his morning press conference on Mar 10 was asked about re-examining the hearings conducted with the former comfort women, which became the foundation of the “Yohei Kono statement“. He maintained that there are no plans to revise the “Kono statement”, in which it was admitted that the comfort women were recruited against their will.
Suga said: “I want to conduct careful examination. There were reports that information manipulation might have taken place. I will form a top-secret research team and proceed with investigation”.
